Celebrated Kenyan journalist Leila Mohamed has joined the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) days after she called it quits with the Nation Media Group-owned station NTV.

This was infact disclosed by former Citizen TV journalist-cum-BBC journalist Waihiga Mwaura, and this was via a post that he made on his Instagram stories on Monday.

He infact shared a short video clip showing how the BBC team welcomed her at the giant media house in style. This was by throwing her a small party.

Well Leila Mohamed was all smiles as her new colleagues surprised her with the cake, and they too enjoyed the moment of welcoming her to be one of their own now.

As mentioned above, Leila Mohamed has joined the BBC just days after she called it quits with NTV.

According to reports her last day at the Nation Media Group-owned station was on Thursday the 8th of June, and her fellow colleagues also marked her farewell in style.

They infact held a farewell meeting, and also threw her a small farewell party to celebrated all the moments and the time that she worked there.

The party included a cake cutting exercise, as they wished her well in her future endeavours.

Leila Mohamed who was a crime news reporter actually left NTV after working there for 10 years.

The celebrated journalist who is an alumnus of the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology joined Nation Media straight from campus in 2013. She was part of the media lab program.

Leila Mohamed initially worked at QTV but later joined NTV after the station shut down in 2016.

Before that, she was intern at the national broadcaster KBC and Iqra FM.

At the time that Leila Mohamed left NTV in early June, she had already been promoted to be the African Editor.

This position was reportedly created by the media house in April, in a bid to switch into a digital media house.
