Former Riruta MCA, Samuel Ndung’u and two other suspects found guilty of the murder of Lucy Njambi, an ex-wife to the former Ward representative, will each serve 30 years in prison.
The sentence was handed down by Judge Justice Joel Ngugi at the Kiambu High Court.
Member of Parliament for Githunguri, Hon Gathoni Wamuchomba, said she welcomed the court’s decision.
“The trio who murdered Lucy Njambi of Karembu Gatundu South were sentenced to 30 years each by Justice Ngugi. It has been 6 yeats of wait. We must consolidate our resolute to end Femicide in Kenya. I take the lead,” Hon Wamuchomba said
She added “Now Lucy Njambi can rest in eternal peace awaiting the accused in the next world for the judgement in the records of the books of heaven.”
The trio; Samuel Ndung’u, Joyce Njambi and Wilson Mwangi, were found guilty of the murder of Njambi in January 2018. In a ruling, Justice Ngugi said that the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the three had a hand in the murder of Njambi.
The victim died on January 26, 2018 after being raped and doused with acid. The mother of one was abducted by the trio from her apartment at Thindigwa, along Kiambu Road on January 24. She was later found abandoned without clothes at an isolated location along Kamiti Corner near Ruiru.
