Pastor Jane Watiri has revealed a terrifying incident from her past, where a night intended for financial gain nearly turned into a sacrificial offering. In a candid interview with TUKO.co.ke, Watiri recounted how a meeting with a Nigerian client took a sinister turn, almost costing her life.

Watiri met the man at a high-end hotel, who then invited her to his place. Upon entering his home, the man transformed into an animal, declaring his intention to sacrifice her to his gods. In a twist of fate, his gods rejected her as a sacrifice. “I was sacrificed to various gods, but they all rejected me,” Watiri shared. She attributed her survival to divine intervention, saying, “If it weren’t for God, I wouldn’t be here.”

This wasn’t Watiri’s only brush with danger. Another client left her stranded in Karura Forest after a failed sacrifice attempt. Watiri spoke of many women who weren’t as fortunate, with some disappearing or being found with missing body parts after being sacrificed.

Her past is marked by turmoil and hardship. As a troubled teen, Watiri ended up in prison and later ran away from home, taking the money her mother had saved for supper. She entered a come-and-stay marriage, but her husband abandoned her and their child for a wealthy matatu owner.

A friend named Joyce introduced her to a life on Koinange Street, infamous for its sex trade. Joyce taught her to sedate her baby with Piriton to keep him quiet through the night. Seeing other women lined up on the street was a horror for Watiri. Despite her initial resistance, Watiri eventually succumbed, starting with a client who paid her KSh 5,000. This marked the beginning of a year-long ordeal.

Watiri’s life was filled with exploitation and despair. Her friend Joyce took a portion of her earnings, and her child developed resistance to Piriton, resulting in sleepless nights. Her mother eventually took the baby after neighbours complained about the constant crying. Watiri spent seven years on Koinange Street, encountering various men, including several religious figures who professed that God chose her for a greater purpose.

Despite her hardships, Watiri found a new path. She is now married to a pastor who accepted her and her children from previous relationships. Reflecting on her past, Watiri expressed a deep scepticism towards religion, stemming from her suffering and abandonment. However, she ultimately found solace and purpose, embracing her role as a pastor.
