Today, one of the former governors from Western region who used to be an ally to Raila Odinga was spotted attending UDA meeting at Bomas of Kenya. This former governor is Hon. Wycliffe Wangamati who served as the governor of Bungoma county between 2017 to 2022.As seen from the photos shared by one media house, Wangamati who recently ditched Azimio coalition arrived together with other UDA leaders from Bungoma county including Hon. Didmus Barasa. Wangamati was previously am member of DAP-KENYA party. However, he ditched this party after losing the gubernatorial seat to Hon Kenneth Lusaka who was vying on Kenya Kwanza ticket.
Upon joining UDA, Wangamati declared that he was happy to be a UDA member. Reports now says that Hon Wangamati is preparing to reclaim the top county seat come 2027 through president William Ruto’s party. “I’m excited to join the UDA party, it is a visionary party that has the best interests of the Mulembe nation at heart,” Wangamati said after being received into the party.
During today’s meeting, the ruling party is expected to discuss some important issues including the forthcoming party grassroot elections countrywide. These elections will be done before the end of the year probably on december. The party will be announcing the actual date for elections and how it will be done.
