Kenyans struggling with devastating floods have found a surprising source of sustenance ” fish” While many regions battle rising waters and displacement, a recent video has emerged showing Kenyans in an undisclosed location happily collecting fish after a river burst its banks.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko shared the video with the caption “Floods Zimekuja Na Baraka” (Floods Have Come With Blessings).

It’s important to note that while some areas benefit from this unexpected harvest, the vast majority of Kenya faces a dire situation. According to the Kenya Red Cross, the death toll from the floods has climbed to at least 174, displacing over half a million people. Nairobi, Machakos County, and western Kenya are the worst-hit regions, with submerged homes, farms, and critical infrastructure causing widespread devastation.

The Kenya Meteorological Department warns of continued heavy rainfall in the coming days, making the situation even more critical. The government has deployed the military for rescue and evacuation efforts, allocated emergency funds for relief operations, and prioritized repairs to damaged infrastructure. International aid is also being sought to address the immense needs.
