Police in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, have arrested five suspects linked to the torching of a house as part of a retaliatory mission after a man was killed at dawn on Thursday in Kamagoma village.

The five are part of a group that invaded a home later in the afternoon to avenge the death of one Joseph Otieno Ochero who was speared to death at around 4am.
Police say the suspects burnt down one house and abducted a 21-year-old man who suffered cuts on his body and was rushed to Masogo sub-county hospital for treatment.

Police however managed to rescue the man from the gang which mostly had boda boda riders and arrested the five suspects.

The officers also confiscated two motorcycles during the incident and the suspects have been locked up at Masogo police station and will be arraigned in court.

Ochero, 40, was attacked under unclear circumstances near his home at 4am and suffered deep stab wounds.

He was rushed by local villagers to St. Phillister health centre where he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Police managed to recover the murder weapon at the scene and it has been kept as an exhibit.
