A rainbow baby is a name coined for a healthy baby born after losing a baby due to miscarriage, infant loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death.
The name draws on the symbol of the rainbow, representing beauty after a dark time.
Several Kenyan celebrity couples have welcomed newborns after being hit by previous miscarriages in recent years.
They include:
1. Size 8

Linet Munyali,professionally known as Size 8, is a Kenyan singer, songwriter and actress.
Size 8’s two children with her husband DJ Mo are a seven-year-old girl Ladasha and four-year-old Muraya Jr.
In 2021, the musician sadly lost her second baby that would have been their third child due to high blood pressure.
She later welcomed Four year old Muraya Junior who is her rainbow baby and refers to him as a miracle.
Muraya was born through a CS at 34 weeks and was put straight to the ICU, and she almost lost him the second day after birth.
2. Milly Chebby

Millicent Chebet, also known as Milly Chebby, is an influencer, food enthusiast and digital creator of the year 2023.
She is married to Terence Creative whom they have a baby girl Milla Netai. .
Milly had a miscarriage before she got her baby Milla who is her rainbow baby.
She opened up about challenges she went through during Milla’s pregnancy .
She had a light bleeding while she was three months pregnant with Milla and that for seven months of the pregnancy, the baby’s heartbeat could not be heard and it got her worried that she might have lost another pregnancy.
Milly also revealed that just after two weeks of giving birth, they discovered that their daughter had a tumor attached to her liver.
3. Lynne Njihia

Lynn Njihia ,is renowned comedian Eric Omondi fiancée , they have dated over a year and have a baby girl Princess Kyla Omondi .
Baby Kyla is the couple’s second child together after they suffered a miscarriage in late 2022.
After the loss the couple remained optimistic and continued to share their parenthood journey till they welcomed Kyla.
4. Kambua

Kambua and husband Jackson Mathu were blessed with three children but lost one.
In 2020, she gave birth to her firstborn and months later she announced she was pregnant with her second born and suffered a miscarriage.
Kambua revealed she had lost another child before the passing of her son Malachi in 2021 third child, a newborn son named Malachi Manundu Muthiga Mathu.
In November 2022, the gospel singer announced that she was expecting her fourth child.Nathalie Nyacira Muthiga Mathu.
Gospel singer Kambua and her husband welcomed their third child, a baby girl after months ago after losing their second-born son in early 2021.
Kambua is a mother of four two in haeven and two she takes care of.
5.Minnie Kariuki Njuguna

Known Kenyan actress and a reality TV star at the Real Housewives of Nairobi Minnie Kariuki is married to Charles Muigai.
They have one baby girl together and they have recently revealed they are expecting a expecting their 3rd child which is a rainbow baby.
Minnie shared the news on her Instagram while celebrating valentine’s day ,under the post she quoted Isaiah 40:31.
She highlighted they have been trying to get a child for a while and its an answered prayer.
