The news currently on our desk is the sudden demise of General Francis Omondi Ogolla. He met his tragic death together with nine other senior military officials who had accompanied him to investigate projects being carried out by the military personnel in the war-torn zone of Elgeyo Marakwet.
ImageA first responder to the accident has revealed how the accident happened as they were gathering for lunch with other workers. They saw the chopper where some claimed that the propeller was not rotating.
They concluded that the plane was okay and just wanted to land near the farms where they were working. The chopper then descended with a lot of speed and crashed with a loud bang. They immediately rushed to the scene where they managed to rescue two army officials who were still talking and walking.
They took their pandas and began cutting the safety belts from those stuck in the remains of the helicopter. They immediately rushed those who were alive to the hospital and arranged the lifeless bodies close to the chopper. The chopper then burst into flames where they were forced to scamper for safety.
The army arrived in large numbers with helicopters where they immediately secured the zone. The injured soldiers were immediately evacuated and the bodies were taken into military helicopters immediately.
