President William Ruto was today a happy man to have launched on behalf of Kenyans a first-ever ship to be constructed in Kenya. The ship was constructed by the military under the close supervision of the previous and current governments. Uhuru Kenyatta is the man who launched the construction of the shipyard.
The success of the first-ever ship is a big boost to the East African community since it will boost the transport sector in the region and across the Lake Victoria basin. William Ruto was accompanied by his deputy Honarable Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders.
The ship MV Uhuru II is the first of its kind. It can carry huge fertilizers, cement, petroleum, and other agricultural produce across the lake. It can also be used for large-scale fishing. Ruto has promised more and more ships to be constructed in Kisumu.
