Kikuyu businessman and philanthropist Karangu Wa Muraya has publicly acknowledged that marrying a second wife was an mistake, sparking widespread reactions among Kenyans.

On Tuesday night, Karangu addressed allegations concerning his marital life during a live session with his first wife, Triza Njeri.

During the live session, Karangu expressed his discomfort with the idea of Triza remarrying, despite his own decision to take a second wife, Carol Kim. He emphasized his concern about another man raising his children, stating, “I would not want to imagine that if she left, my kids would be raised somewhere else without me.”

Karangu admitted that his choice to marry Carol was made in a moment of anger during a period of prolonged marital strife with Triza.

He revealed that their relationship had been troubled for a long time, with conflicts sometimes leading to months of silence between them. Seeking peace, he decided to leave their matrimonial home and found solace with Carol.

Triza, on the other hand, expressed her shock upon learning that Karangu had paid dowry for Carol without informing her. In a TikTok live session, she questioned why proper protocols were not followed, especially given their upbringing in the Akorino sect, which has specific procedures for such matters.

The situation has elicited mixed reactions from the public. Some individuals have criticized Karangu for his double standards, opposing Triza’s potential remarriage while he himself has a second wife.
