Abungana

The family of Silas Abungana, a Kakamega Homeboyz player, is devastated by his sudden death after a fight at his home in Kakamega County.

Silas, only 21, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, at Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

He had suffered major head injuries during a clash with his younger brother the night before.

Silas’s dad, Chiroi Abungana, explained that it started with a small argument. Silas’s girlfriend had asked his brother for a traditional stove, but he refused.

When she told Silas, he got angry and turned off the electricity to his brother’s house.

The family says a violent confrontation followed, and the younger brother hit Silas on the head with a club. He then ran away.

Silas was quickly taken to the hospital, but he didn’t make it. His father said that the doctors didn’t really help, claiming the family was asked to buy supplies that weren’t even used.

Silas’s mom, Beatrice Khasiala, remembered him as a loving son who always took care of his family. She said they are heartbroken by what happened.

The police are now searching for the brother as they investigate.

Fans, teammates, and football officials all over the country are paying their respects. Kakamega Homeboyz chairperson Cleophas Toto said Silas was a talented player whose death is a big loss for the club.

He mentioned that Silas had recently played very well and was about to join the national team.

Silas’s body is at the Kakamega County Referral Hospital mortuary while his family makes funeral arrangements.
