She made history when she became the first female police officer in the Kenya Police Service to be appointed as the director of the Internal Affairs Unit in the changes made in December 2023.
Judy Chebet Ndeda succeeded Abdallah Komesha in the position. The latter moved back to the Directorate of Criminals Investigations headquarters and appointed the director of the powerful investigations bureau.
But after only four months in office, Ndeda was purged from the powerful position in the changes made by the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome in April 2024.
Ndeda, the seasoned cop who once worked as the Railways Police DCI chief, was recalled to police headquarters for redeployment.
At the internal affairs unit, Ndeda was succeeded by former GSU deputy Commandant, Boniface Maingi, a one-time long serving director of personnel at the police headquarters.
But over one month late, little is known about his fate in the police service.
In 2012, the female cop was among those who were interviewed for the position of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Kenya Police Service wing but lost the battle to Grace Kaindi.
