Winnie Bwire, popularly known as Dida from the hit Kenyan TV show Sultana, had been bravely battling Ductal Carcinoma, a rare form of breast cancer characterized by abnormal cells in the milk duct.
On September 5, 2024, Lulu Hassan shared a statement on her Instagram page from Winnie’s family, announcing that the beloved actress had passed away while undergoing treatment in Turkey.

“With heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce that Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle with cancer on September 5, 2024, while receiving treatment in Turkey.
“We deeply appreciate your overwhelming support, prayers, and generosity during her treatment. God bless you all,” the family wrote.
The announcement has left many Kenyans in disbelief, mourning the loss of not only a cherished actress but also a legend.
