Fancy Finger’s Father studies album is aimed at breaking all the social stereotypes surrounding parenthood among African men.
Speaking in an interview with Kamene and Obinna on Friday, the Sauti Sol band member said his entire album was inspired by his 16-month-old son baby O.
“The whole album is inspired by my son. During the pandemic I had to be present because I couldn’t tour and that gave me a new perspective about parenting because I was there during the pregnancy. I tried to break the stereotype among African men on parenthood and try to be present and create a bond that early.” Said Fancy Fingers.
He went further to add; We decided to do ‘alone together’ the end goal is still to make Sauti Sol as big as possible. I thought why not write music and do a project around him to inspire African men? I hope it inspires him.
Fancy says he is enjoying every moment being a dad and advised all the dads out there to be intentional about it and ensure they are present in their kids onset years.
I remember my friends who have kids the only thing they said is I won’t sleep. These early stages where men think the kid is for the mothersand breastfeeding are also crucial for them as well.
Obinna a father himself echoed his words saying kids will always remember your presence and not the million dollar gifts you send them.
Obinna said; I ask my celebrity friends to be present because the kids will always remember the memories you share. You can send all the gifts but they won’t remember. I commend you for that my brother.
