Roy Smith Mwita aka Rufftone is an amazing gospel singer. He is famously know for his hit songs Mwikulu, Tsinyanga Tswere and Mungu Baba.
He has just released a new song called Sirudi Misri.
It is an amazing song that he wrote as a result of the many challenges he has had to face.
He spoke to Kiss FM and explained how his transition journey was hard. When he was a secular artiste, he worked hard on his secular album that took him almost 4 years to finish.
When he was almost done with the album he got saved. The next song that he did was gospel.
Rufftone
ā€œHere I am as a newly born again artiste, when I would go to perform as a gospel artiste people would ask for the secular songs. I was at a cross roads. I was wandering now what do I do? I have started a new life and people are asking for the new secular song I did just before I got saved.ā€
That aside, Rufftone had to turn down many lucrative deals because they compromised his beliefs. There is a time he was also in Florida in the States, and a certain company wanted to record him for free but the condition was he omits the word Christ or Jesus in his songs.
They told him;
ā€œWe love everything about your voice and talent. But we just donā€™t like the word Christ so you can do songs but omit the word Jesus Christ. You can sing songs that encourage people for example I look up to you.ā€
Rufftone
The company promised that they would market him and take his music all over the world. He was to be launched into the world and with this deal he was not going to pay a dime.
Rufftone admited he has been called for many lucrative deals but they would tell him things like;
ā€œDo not pray before you sing, just go straight into performing the song. Our bosses are not for that kind of idea. It would offend some people who are in the crowd so when you come here just do your song and walk out. Donā€™t greet people, donā€™t say your born again. We donā€™t have a problem with you being on stage but we have a problem with you praying.ā€
And with all that happened it pushed him to write his new song. The video was shot in Dhoha, Katar but the credits read Cairo. He explains why.
ā€œWhen you say sirudi misri, which is Egypt, the script fit the title of the song. Thats why it is written in the video that Iā€™m on location in Cairo, Egypt.

The story line is mainly inspired by when Jesus got tempted by the devil. Rufftone has gone through all that according to his story.
ā€œThere are people who have offered him better packages. He further said how its everywhere especially if you look promising, focused and on top of the food chain. There are people who will always see you and come for you,ā€ Rufftone noted.
