Former bodyguard to the former head of state, a trained commando has been promoted to top position in new changes announced

The former lead bodyguard to President Uhuru Kenyatta was Tuesday named the new North Eastern Regional Police Commander (RPC) in changes.

According to the information shared, the National Police Service said the former bodyguard Papita Ranka will from August 13 take over as the RPC for the region to among others lead in the war against terrorism and smuggling.

According to the information shared, Ranka took over from Bundi Muriithi who was recalled to police headquarters.

The changes were announced by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat.

According to the insiders, this move is a welcomed move with pundits saying that it will allow him to grow in the ranks.

Ranka who is a trained commando has spent part of his life in VIP protection unit.
