President William Ruto on Saturday admitted that he needs the input of ODM leader Raila Odinga to succeed in his bid to unite the country.
The two leaders have been working for weeks since after the recent anti-government protests, which saw Raila allies incorporated in Ruto’s new cabinet.
Speaking in Kisumu on Saturday, Ruto admitted that he needs Raila to keep the country united, also announcing his readiness to work with him.
He asked Raila’s Nyanza supporters to bless his union with the ex-Prime Minister, urging then to come on board and support his government’s agenda.
“Should we unite or not? I am not new to you. Should I and Raila unite and bring the country together? Do you want us to continue or stop?” he posed, as reported by Citizen Digital.
He also promised that henceforth, the Luo Nyanza region will fully benefit from his government.
Also present was Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa, who warned those who might be planning to attack or criticize Raila.
The National Assembly Majority Leader, who has been among prominent Raila critics, cautioned that such people will have to go through him.
“From today going forward, anybody who tries to mess with Baba (Raila) will have me to deal with,” he warned.
