Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has addressed the heckling witnessed last week during President William Ruto’s development tour in Meru County.

In a number of occasions, rowdy youths heckled during Ruto’s rally, even though it was reported that the youths who support Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi had clashed with those who support Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Speaking on Wednesday during the 15th anniversary of the PNU Party, Munya argued that the heckling was because Kenyans are tired with the Kenya Kwanza government that has been making promises every day and even launching projects started by the former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I have always been asking myself what this government has done since they came to power. They are launching Uhuru’s projects. They are even launching the same projects for the second and third time, at the same time making new promises.”

“That is what they have been going around doing, and since Kenyans are unhappy with them, that is why you hear people making noise and heckling. Kenyans have lost hope in the government, and they have realized they were given empty promises,” argued Munya.

Criticizing the heckling, President Ruto who seemed irked by the incident told off the youths not to make noise in his meeting, arguing that such behavior is linked to the ODM party and the Azimio coalition.

At the same time, the Head of State told the youth that all leaders must be respected, and given time to deliver on their campaign pledges, and if they will not perform, they can be replaced in 2027.
