A primary school teacher from from Mombasa has been taken into custody after he was alleged to have assaulted a minor boy from a popular academy within the town, during the morning hours.

According to police reports, the suspect by the name Collins Akiro Okeyo was waylaid by a neighbour, who claims to have watched the act in utter shock, as the suspect lured the minor into a secluded area and attempted to abuse him before she raised an alarm.

The alleged teacher, whose name has not yet been revealed to the public, was arrested and is in police custody pending arraignment in a court of law for his crimes.

Mombasa county police commissioner affirmed the incident saying the ministry of education officials has requested the school closure for ample time to consolidate enough evidence due to the sensitivity of the case taking into consideration, urging that the victim is sibling from the same family and the suspect in question is a teacher from a neighboring school.

The eyewitnesses told the police that they spotted the suspect and the boy entering the lodge during the morning hours, leaving them to suspect on what the two were doing in the room. They immediately reported the matter to sub-location assistant chief, and the suspect and the victims were arrested.

They said that they found several used condom and two unused placed under the mattress. Furthermore, they indicated that the condoms will be used as exhibit.

The victim’s parents also affirmed the incident, saying they got a tip-off from a boda boda rider, who spotted the suspect entering the lodge with the minor.

They said it was unclear as to how the teacher managed to go for this long without being detected and arrested by the authorities for his shocking crime.

The case has elicited plenty of emotions in the town, and its environs as the accused person founded the rite of boy child initiative within the area Evangelical Churches in Bomet Changamwe, and is said to consolidate over 150 young boys every December to take them through post circumcision healing.
