Nairobi, Kenya – On Thursday, June 15, Kenya’s Budget for 2023/24 was presented in the Parliament by the Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u. Uncertainty among the Members of Parliament was witnessed from early hours of the morning ahead of planned event. After CS Ndung’u began presenting the Budget, Azimio la Umoja leaders led by Embakasi East MP Paul Babu Owino immediately walked out of the Parliament chambers.
Addressing the media outside Parliament buildings today, MP Babu Owino announced that he and other opposition lawmakers walked out of Parliament in protest of the budget which he claimed has been fueled by an illegal finance bill. He alleged that the bill was passed in a hurry and with minimal consultation.
After Kenyans.co.ke shared the news about MP Babu Owino on social media Facebook, Kenyans were unhappy with some saying Babu be sincere. You’re walking out of parliament not because of what you call illegal finance bill. No! You’re walking out there with shame on your face. Stay out. The house shall have its honourable status without you. Kenyans believe that even if the opposition leaders oppose everything government proposes to citizens, they must pay tax.
