It is another great move that Kenya has made as it is set to benefit from the European Union fuel programme. Kenya, is among the African Countries apart from South Africa and Ethiopia that are set to benefit from this initiative which is worth Ksh. 23 trillion as outlined in the infrastructure budget for the project.
EU plans to achieve this project ahead anticipated boom in demand for the environmentally sustainable air travel, (Safe Air Travel) fuel to defeat their rival of the China’s belt.
The project for SAF is triggered with the anticipated demand as it is estimated to be 450 billion litres per year by 2050. This has forced the European Union to go for thesw three African Countries where they want to invest their project in. This will now put Kenya in a position to produce the clean jet fuel that would make it earn billion in revenue.
The demand for the Safe Aviation Fuel( SAF) is high as the EU has now put a requirement for less emissions into the atmosphere making the aircrafts use this fuel. Kenya has been favoured due to its large uncultivated land which leaves space for the activities of extraction.
This comes as other multinational companies from Germany and Italy have also started making their way to Africa in search of biofuel investments opportunities.
This kind of fuel is preferred because it has low-carbon fuel alternatives for the aviation industry and can be made from various crops among other feedstock sources.
This is a good news to the Country and the government of President William Ruto as it is a move set to help the Country grow its revenue through the supply of the SAF products to the EU.
