In a recent turn of events Ephraim Maina has found himself in the midst of an unfortunate controversy. Karanja David, a beneficiary of Maina’s fundraising efforts has accused him of misappropriating the 2 million Kenyan shillings that were raised on his behalf two years ago. However, Maina has taken to social media to set the record straight addressing the allegations made against him.
Firstly, Maina clarifies that the funds were never mishandled and he and his team have the necessary evidence to prove their innocence. He states that the support they provided to Karanja David was facilitated through online live streaming using his phone number only. He said many individuals who contributed to the cause can attest to this fact with videos from the streams serving as concrete proof.
Maina explains that within 24 hours of their interaction they secured a good one-bedroom house for David in Barnabas costing them a total of 6,000 Kenyan shillings. They also furnished the house with brand new household items including kitchen utensils and modern living room essentials.
Addressing David’s music comeback, Maina personally accompanied him to the studio, where they recorded two new songs. Additionally they produced videos for these songs shooting in various locations across Nairobi, Thika, and Naivasha. To fulfill their promise of supporting David’s music career they also revamped eight of his previous songs, shooting accompanying videos for each one.
Maina reveals that they even set up a bank account for David ensuring that any earnings from his YouTube channel would be paid directly to him. He states that the first installment alone amounted to over 20,000 Kenyan shillings. On the matter of land acquisition Maina claims they mobilized sponsors and secured an eighth-hectare property worth 800,000 Kenyan shillings in Nyahururu in David’s name. A certificate has been issued and David is encouraged to collect the title deed as it is ready for him.
Moreover, Maina reveals that through his networking efforts, a friend from Kabuku Limuru kindly donated a full set of musical instruments for David. Recognizing the potential for David to generate income through this gift, Maina advised him to hire out the instruments which he has been doing successfully while performing weekly in Nakuru clubs and other venues.
Maina expresses disappointment in the sympathy videos that David has been posting, as they create an inaccurate portrayal of him. Maina asserts that the support given to David has enabled him to charge 50,000 Kenyan shillings per performance in various clubs, proving that paying rent is no longer an issue for him.
Regarding the unfortunate incident involving the house that was being built for David, Maina explains that it was destroyed by Pokots bandits. However, he assures David that the leftover materials were sold to recoup some of the losses and he holds no grudges over this matter.
