Celebration rocked a home in Lurambi, Kakamega to mark the return of a man who had left his matrimonial home 17 years ago. The man was received with joy by family and friends as they sang songs in praise.
According to a story published on Citizen TV, the man Boniface Munyeshi unexpectedly turned up to his home in Emukoyani, Butsotsto ward.
He had deserted the home 17 years ago and showed up unannounced. He was carried shoulder high to a section of the home where prayers were conducted and a ram slaughtered for his return.
The prayers were for the reunited family to settle down and enjoy life as a couple. His wife Agripina Mulupi, however already had another man. They even had a child together. She explained how she was shocked to see him
“Tulikuwa tumekaa asubuhi ya leo, kitu saa tatu tumeona shemeji amekuja na tuktuk, kuangalia huko kushuka nikaona ni huyo mzee wangu na huyo shegi amekuja. Kwa kweli yenyewe tumekuwa na furaha. tumeskia raha ndani ya mioyo zetu hadi watoto wake wamefurahia sababu walikuwa wamejua sis hatuna baba tuko tuu na mama peke yake. Mama ndio baba, mama ndio mama,” she shared.
Adding;
“Mungu abaki kuitwa mungu. Sababu hata mimi nilikuwa nimemsahau nimesema huyo ameenda.”
She also told the publication about missing her husband and taking the decision to move on to another man with his unexplained disappearance.
“Ah nikaona miaka tano imetosha sitaweza na mama yangu bado alikuwa ako hai. Baba mkwe ako hai, mama mdogo ako.”
She was lonely but all these people persuaded her not to move on but to hold onto hope her husband would return.
She had met a Rwandese man, and she fell for him. “Huyo mtu alikuwa ananisaidia kwa maisha yangu hata watoto anapeleka kwa shule”
The new man’s generosity to her knew no bounds, “Nilipata mtoto mmoja na yeye.”
When her husband returned, she had a sit down with the other baby daddy to inform him that he would need to leave.
“Nikamwambia si kwa ubaya, sikufukuzi, lakini mwenye boma amerudi lazima tutampatia heshima sababu hii ni boma yake.”
Agripina said the new baby daddy agreed and he left. She gave him two days to leave the homestead. “Kweli aliskia akajipanga akatafuta nyumba yake.”
They settled on a co-parenting agreement where he continues to pay upkeep for their child.
Reacting to his return, the woman said that is what made her decide to evict him to make way for her husband, as the head of the home.
A resident at the reunion party told Citizen that the 42-year-old man had left his family in 2006.
“He left home for Nairobi back in 2006. He left his family behind never to be seen again,” they shared about his absence.
“We suspected that he had died during the 2007/2008 post-election skirmishes,” his relative Fredrick Witumbele said.
