Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi might have adopted the name later in life as it was not his original name, an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigator has found out.
The investigator, Derrick Juma, has been following up on Sudi’s academic journey, following suspicions that the Uasin Gishu politician forged his academic papers and did not reach the college level as he claims.
He now says that it is true that Sudi never went past the primary school level, and has also found out that he was not originally Oscar Sudi but Kipchumba Kipngāetich.
Juma says that after visiting Luok Ngetuny Primary School to find out if Sudi learnt there, he found that he indeed did, but left the school at class seven, after which teachers could not trace his whereabouts.
āThe only records we found of him being a student was at Luok Ngetuny Primary School where the teachers confirmed that he enrolled in 1995 under the name of Kipchumba Kipngāetich, but that he exited the school at Class Seven,ā he testified yesterday as is reported by The Standard.
The investigator has established that Sudi never proceeded with his schooling, and is, therefore, lying when he says he went to Highway Secondary School and later the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).
He says that he confirmed that Sudi’s college and high school papers were fake after confirming with both the KIM management and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
āEven the postal address he indicated in the leaving certificate did not belong to the school. His name was not anywhere in the records in the schools and institutions he said to have attended,” he is quoted.
Sudi is among the closest politicians to President William Ruto and is known for his abrasive nature and attacks on opposition leaders and supporters.
