Senator Okiya Omtatah of Busia made an attempt to file a report against President William Ruto regarding alleged threatening remarks made during a church fundraiser at Cardinal High School in Mosocho. Omtatah found Ruto’ s words, in which he mentioned using a ” big sword” to confront those obstructing his projects, to be threatening. This was particularly concerning for Omtatah, as he has been involved in legal battles against the government, such as the Housing Levy case.

However, when Omtatah sought to lodge the report at Nyanchwa Police Station, he was reportedly turned away by officers, despite being directed there by authorities from Mosocho Police Station. The Officer in Charge at Nyanchwa declined to comment to the media and left the station when questioned about the incident.

Omtatah expressed worry that the President’ s comments were targeted at individuals who opposed his style of leadership, allegedly labeling them as ” Wakora” (meaning crooks). Despite asserting his commitment to the law, Omtatah felt that his safety was compromised following the President’ s statements.

While Omtatah was received cordially by officers at Mosocho Police Station, he was disappointed by the refusal of the Officer in Charge at Nyanchwa to document his statement. Feeling that his life might be in jeopardy, Omtatah contemplated reporting the matter directly to the Inspector of Police.
