Police in Kitui are investigating the death of suspected thief whose body was found inside an electronics shop in Mwingi town.
The body was discovered Friday morning when the owner opened the shop.The man had broken into the shop to accomplish his mission when he met his death.
Police suspect the thief fell and died after he tried to gain entry into the shop whose owner was away. The suspect tried to gain entry through the roof since the door was closed before he accidentally fell and landed headfirst dying on the spot.
Officers from Mwingi Police Station visited the scene and found the body of the man with blood oozing from his nose and mouth.
The scene was processed and the body moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.
Residents are living in fear due to rampant insecurity. According to the residents, there have been gangs of robbers who are terrorising and robbing them.
There has be an increase in crime in Kitui, with Mwingi town recording several cases of theft suspects being lynched.
