Dramatic twist as the National Police Service issues statement regarding the arrest of Meru County Governor Hon Kawira Mwangaza a few hours ago.
In a statement this evening, the police boss Japheth Koome has said his officers have not arrested the Governor. He has noted that the claims circulating online that the Governor has been arrested by police is false.

Contrary to the false allegations circulating on the social media, the National Police Service wishes to clarify, that Police have not arrested Meru Governor, Hon. Kawira Mwangaza” the Police boss said via the National Police Service (NPS) social media handles.
This comes moments after the Governor took to the internet celebrating her release from custody.
On her social media handle, the Governor noted that the area OCS has apologized to her, claiming that the said arrest was a mistaken identity.
