Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed two of his top aides, further fueling rumors of a deepening rift with President William Ruto.

The dismissals, which occurred on Tuesday, August 20, saw Deputy Director of Public Communications Martha Miano and Personal Assistant Francis Ngotho Maina ousted from their positions.

While the official reason given for their dismissal is cited as incompetence, sources close to the situation suggest a more complicated narrative.

Insiders have hinted that the duo’s perceived loyalty to President Ruto may have contributed to their ousting, a move that has raised eyebrows among political observers and added to the ongoing speculation about a possible power struggle within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The dismissals come at a time when Gachagua’s office has been plagued by rumors of internal spying, further intensifying the intrigue surrounding the Deputy President’s inner circle.

Termination letters referenced the Local Agreement Form (Revised 2017), which allows the government to terminate employment by giving two months’ notice or paying two months’ salary in lieu of notice. Both aides are expected to receive their full remuneration packages and service gratuity up to their last day in office.

This development follows closely on the heels of the recent ousting of Cleophas Malala, a close ally of Gachagua, from his position within the UDA.

Malala has claimed that his removal is part of a larger conspiracy aimed at paving the way for an impeachment motion against Gachagua, a claim that has yet to be substantiated but has nonetheless contributed to the ongoing political drama.
