According to current assertions made by Kenya Kwanza government deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, he would currently be rotting in jail if the Kenya Kwanza government had lost the August 2022 presidential election.

Speaking to the people of Mathira, Nyeri County, on Friday, DP Gachagua expressed his gratitude to them for supporting his campaign by casting their ballots for President William Ruto, hinting that had he lost, he would have been sentenced to time in Kamiti Maximum Prison.

The DP recounted the time leading up to the elections and accused his political rivals of planning a plot to have him arrested.

“Without your support, I would not have been elected deputy president. I would have been cooling the oatmeal in Kamiti,” he claimed.

“I would have just completed my sixth month as a prisoner. I doubt that you would have come to see me.

Former Mathira MP DP Gachagua made the light-hearted remark that a politician from the opposing camp had even suggested that he be detained in King’ong’o Maximum Prison so that his supporters could feed him porridge.

“And another man said I should be taken to King’ong’o prison, which is closer, and people will bring me porridge,” he added.
