Political analyst Herman Manyora, a seasoned expert in Kenyan politics, has issued a strong caution to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, advising him against challenging Raila Odinga’s dominance in Luo Nyanza. This warning comes in the wake of Babu Owino’s dissatisfaction with Raila’s recent decision to cooperate with the government—a move that has not sat well with the young lawmaker.

Herman Manyora acknowledges Babu Owino’s rising political influence, predicting that the MP has the potential to make significant waves on the national stage. However, he cautions that any attempt by Babu Owino to antagonize Raila in Luo Nyanza, a region where Raila enjoys overwhelming support, could jeopardize his political future. According to Manyora, while Owino’s star is currently shining bright, it could quickly fade if he chooses to go up against Raila.

Manyora further advises Babu Owino against the idea of leaving the ODM party to form his own political entity, a notion that has been speculated due to Owino’s recent displays of dissatisfaction with the party. Owino has also been seen in the company of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, fueling rumors about his potential defection. However, Manyora warns that such a move would likely spell the end of Owino’s political ambitions, particularly if it is seen as an effort to undermine Raila’s influence in Luo Nyanza.
