Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has urged Kenyans to embrace a spirit of kindness and forgiveness when addressing government issues.
In a message shared on social media, Passaris quoted 1 Peter 3:9:”Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
Along with the verse, she posed a question to Kenyans on social media, asking whether they could choose to bless the government instead of criticizing it. To make the discussion more engaging, she announced a Kshs 100,000 reward, encouraging positive responses.
Passaris’ message has sparked mixed reactions online. Some Kenyans have supported her call, saying that responding with kindness aligns with biblical teachings and promotes peace. They argue that constant negativity only fuels division and anger. Others, however, believe that holding the government accountable is necessary and should not be mistaken for insults or negativity.
Over the years, Passaris has been known for her messages of unity, faith, and empowerment. She has often encouraged Kenyans to embrace compassion even in political matters. By quoting scripture, she seems to be calling for a different approach to addressing national issues one based on grace rather than hostility.
