Starlet wahu

New forensic evidence has been presented in court linking John Matara Ong’oa to the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu Mwangi, the sister of Pastor Victor Kanyari.

During the hearing, a forensic examiner testified that DNA analysis conducted on multiple items recovered from the crime scene placed the accused at the centre of the fatal incident.

Knife Carried Blood of Both Parties
The court heard that a knife recovered from the apartment contained blood belonging to both the deceased and Ong’oa. According to the forensic expert, laboratory tests confirmed that the genetic profiles extracted from the weapon matched the two individuals.

In addition, bloodstains found on a denim shirt believed to belong to the suspect, as well as on towels and other items collected from the scene, were analysed. The results reportedly showed a match to both Wahu and Ong’oa.

Mixed DNA Profile from Condom
Further testimony revealed that a semen stain recovered from a used condom at the scene produced a mixed DNA profile. The forensic examiner told the court that the profile included a match to the accused.

Prosecutors argued that the cumulative DNA findings strongly link Ong’oa to the killing.

January 2024 Killing
Starlet Wahu was murdered in January 2024 at an apartment in South B, Nairobi. The case attracted widespread public attention due to her profile as a socialite and her relation to Pastor Victor Kanyari.

The prosecution maintains that the forensic evidence provides crucial scientific backing to their case, placing the accused at the scene and connecting him directly to the events that led to Wahu’s death.
