A woman from Tanga, Tanzania, has sparked wide discussion after choosing to mark the end of her marriage with a large public celebration.

Zainaji Kombo, a mother of four, became the centre of attention after hosting a colourful party to celebrate her divorce from her third husband. Instead of quiet reflection, she opted for music, guests, and a lively atmosphere that many did not expect.

The event, popularly named Usiku wa Talaka, drew family members, relatives, and friends who came together to support her. Videos from the night showed singing, dancing, and cheerful moments that quickly spread online.

Speaking during the event, Zainaji explained that the celebration was her way of moving forward. She said her marriage had been full of challenges and that choosing peace over pain was important to her.

“I wanted the divorce, and that is why I am celebrating,” she shared. “When love becomes heavy, I allow myself to move on.”

Zainaji revealed that she has been married three times and has four children, all of whom live with her. She noted that she had held big ceremonies for each of her weddings, so celebrating the end of one chapter felt just as meaningful.

She added that she did not invite her former husband or his family, but rumours later suggested that he attended the party quietly. According to her, this did not cause tension, as she was focused on her own healing.

The event stirred mixed reactions online. Some praised her courage and honesty, calling it a bold move by a woman choosing happiness. Others questioned whether divorce should be celebrated publicly, citing cultural and moral concerns.
