On Friday, the former Mau Mau veteran Muthoni Kirima’s funeral was held in Nyeri County, where the deputy president Hon. Rigathi Gachagua was on a visit of his own backyard.

The deputy president was accompanied by a number of his trusted allies, including Kalonzo Musyoka, former defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, and CS Moses Kuria.

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga addressed the group of mourning and pleaded with the government to stop sending police to arrest him at night.

According to Maina Njenga, Kenya Kwanza is in charge, hence it is improper for them to ambush him with police officers in the middle of the night.

He added that he is willing to talk with the Mt. Kénya leadership in order to figure out why they are constantly at odds with one another.

In order for all leaders to read from the same script moving forward, Maina Njenga stated that he is prepared to consult with elders from the area.

A handshake between him and DP Gachagua was also requested, and he stated that he was prepared to engage with the other leaders for the benefit of Kenyans and the Mt. Kenya region.

He added that no one should judge him based on his past because he is a clean man now.
