Renowned Citizen TV anchor Yvonne Okwara has recently separated from her husband, Andrew Matole, after a decade together.
Sources close to the couple revealed to Daily Post that the primary reason for their split was Okwara’s decision not to have children.
Matole reportedly expressed a desire for children, but Okwara’s focus on her career took precedence.
“Before they separated, he had been complaining that she was too focused on her career at the expense of their marriage. He also wanted babies but she chose to remain childless,” the source revealed as quoted by Daily Post.
.Since their split, Okwara has ceased using Matole’s surname during her appearances on Citizen TV’s prime-time news bulletin.
Additionally, observers noted that her wedding ring, previously a constant accessory, is no longer worn.
In a past Interview, Okwara opened up about her decision not to have children despite being married to Andrew Matole for a decade.
The couple exchanged vows in December 2014, but their journey has been marked by speculation and curiosity regarding their choice to remain childless.
In a past interview with Ghafla Kenya, when asked about the absence of children in their marriage, Okwara expressed a resolute stance, stating that she does not feel pressured by societal expectations to conform to traditional norms of parenthood.
“People talked. People said things. That’s what comes with having a job in the limelight,” Okwara remarked.
However, she emphasized that external opinions have never dictated her decisions, especially regarding such deeply personal matters.
”Ever. Because I’m such an intrinsic person, if there’s ever any pressure it would have to be from myself. Never from the outside world.” She said.
