Details have emerged revealing why President Ruto only named half of his cabinet despite his past stance on including everyone on board as far as the opposition camp is concerned for the formation of the Government of National Unity.

After sacking the previous Cabinet Secretaries, President Ruto announced a six day national dialogue to announce the pressing concerns by Kenyans, a move that was welcomed by opposition chief Raila Odinga.

Raila Odinga okaying Ruto’s dialogue call for the formation of the Government of National Unity brought division in the Azimio Camp as critics argued that he had a secret agenda in having some opposition leaders getting cabinet slots nomination by President Ruto.

Concerns have been raised on why President Ruto only nominated the first batch of Cabinet Secretaries as he insisted that negotiations are still on and in the next week he will give the names of the remaining ones.

For the formation of the Government of National Unity, the opposition camp led by ODM leader Raila Odinga was to meet President Ruto and suggest some names in the opposition that should fit in the cabinet slots.

It now appears that Raila Odinga developed a last minute cold feet on the Government of National Unity.

Sources intimated to the Star that all was set until Thursday Night but Raila is said to have met a former political bigwig who reportedly dissuaded him from joining Ruto.

The Star further reported that the bigwig and Ruto do not see eye to eye hence making the President only name the first batch.

It now remains unclear whether Raila will proceed with the deal especially amid sustained pressure from within the ODM party to abandon the idea.

According to sources, Raila Odinga asked Ruto to give him more time to consult hence the delay that made the President to name the first batch of Cabinet Secretaries.
