Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has responded to President William Ruto’s Cabinet appointees saying it was the right way to bring Kenyans together.
Asked whether the appointment of former Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, ex-Governors Nderitu Muriithi (Laikipia), Nakuru’s Lee Kinyanjui and William Kabogo was an aftermath of President Ruto’s recent meeting with his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta, Kindiki maintained that his boss’s sole intention was to unite the country and drive the economy forward.
Kindiki outrightly noted that the country needed to include ‘everyone’ from across the political inclinations in order to move forward amid the growing criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Early last week, Ruto met Uhuru and discussed about how to take the country forward.
However, the meeting and subsequent appointment of Mt Kenya leaders to cabinet won’t excite critics who are ganging the region against Kenya Kwanza administration.
In fact, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga last Sunday said the region doesn’t need CS seats after Gachagua’s was ousted.
Gachagua is contemplating joining forces with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, with details of his interest remaining unclear.
Gachagua said Mt Kenya will repay a political debt of Mr Musyoka for backing Former President Mwai Kibaki.called on ODM leader Raila Odinga to clarify whether his party is aligned with the government or the opposition.
Kalonzo on the other hand, has asked Raila to ensure the orange party takes a definitive stand before the start of the new year, 2025.
“We also want ODM to tell us before the new year 2025: Are you in the opposition or in government? You have to have a clear stand,” Kalonzo remarked.
