Catherine Kasavuli had a son whom she called Martin, but sadly he passed away before she did.
Martin was born in 1981, while Kasavuli’s career as a journalist was getting started, thus he was exposed to the media sector from an early age.
The late experienced journalist, who passed away at the age of 60 after a battle with cancer, said in an interview with the Standard that she once had to carry her kid to the studio due to a lack of household help.
From 2002 to 2005, Martin attended school in England at Keele University.
His profession has taken him all throughout Africa and Europe, including the countries of Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Ethiopia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, and the United Kingdom.
Martin took a part-time job with Vodafone in Stoke-on-Trent, UK, in 2004 while he was still a student there.
Martin’s LinkedIn page claims that he worked for Vodafone from 2003 to 2006, then returned to his native Kenya in 2006 to work for The Star Publication as an Agency Sales till 2008.
The law school graduate worked as the head of the Agency for Creative Communications in Rwanda for a year before returning to Kenya to lead Agency Sales for Radio Africa Group.
Martin co-founded Kasavuli Media Group in 2012 with his mom, Catherine. He also established Spin Media Africa Limited and serves as its CEO.
Kasavuli’s son has worked as a business development manager for Nation Media Group, a managing director for Oglivy and Mather in Tanzania, and most recently in Kenya as the firm’s director of communications and new business.
