A section of Thika Road remained impassable for the better part of Wednesday.

Heavy downpour that pounded the city Tuesday night and Wednesday morning led to massive flooding of the road between Kahawa Sukari and the Kenyatta University.

A spot check by the Star showed motorists trying to wade through the flooded section to move people across.

Police were deployed in the area to direct traffic to the shallow end of the flooded road as vehicles struggled to move through the waters.

Some vehicles stalled in the water as Kenyans joined efforts to pull them out.

ON Wednesday morning, the Kenya National Highways Authority announced the closure of the section between Kahawa Sukari Drift and the Kenyatta University.
