Even as the country up its game in combat against terrorist activities in the country carried out by Somalia’s threaded terror group Al-Shabaab, DCI has released unseen photos of its anti-terror commandos taking their intense training in Kedong Naivasha.

Through its series of Tweets, DCI said DCI’s Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) which specializes in rapid response to high-risk situations had completed its training today.

DCI said the unit has been trained on how to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and security threats such as terrorism in the country.

“Today, these elite detectives completed an intensive advanced combat riding course at the Kedong training camp in Naivasha, Nakuru County, which was designed to bolster their ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and security threats” read DCI’s tweet

DCI said that the cutting-edge training was organized in collaboration with the US Embassy’s Office of Anti-Terrorism Assistance under the Diplomatic Security Services, TripleTap Academy, Kibo, and BMW Motorrad.

It added that the team is focused on enhancing the detectives’ skills in navigating obstacles, performing high-speed maneuvers with an armed passenger, and accurately shooting targets while in motion, among other specialized techniques.

“Mr. Mike Solis, Anti-Terrorism Assistance Regional Programs Manager, expressed confidence in the Emergency Response Team’s enhanced capacity to manage incidents and respond swiftly to evolving security situations, particularly in relation to terror threats” added DCI.

Triple Tap Academy Instructor, Mr. Sammy Onyango, a highly experienced shooting coach, stated that the trainees received world-class instruction, exposing them to a variety of scenarios that would prove invaluable in real-world priority operations.

Onyango, who played a crucial role in training the team, confirmed that similar programs would continue to be offered in the future, with the aim of ensuring the ERT’s professional, efficient, safe, and effective operation in maintaining public safety and security.
