Directorate of criminal investigation has this afternoon released images of a wanted criminal gang leader who was arrested today and who is believed to be the mastermind behind vicious attacks in different parts of Mount Kenya.
The 54 years old man Simon Gitonga, famously known as “Axe Man” is believed to be the man behind robberies that have been in the rise in the County’s of kiambu and more specifically juja and the county of murang’a.
Police further said that the serial gang leader has been in the run for the past few months and has evaded police Dragnet, which had been launched to apprehend him following cases of robbery.
He is said to be having a case that is currently ongoing at the kiambu Law Courts and failed to show up recently during the mention of his case, where he is accused of robbing an MPESA shop.
He is now expected to be presented before Court to answer to charges of being part of a criminal gang that has been causing havoc in different parts of the ear.
