The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has identified a police officer believed to be behind the brutal killing of a woman at her home in Roysambu, Nairobi County.

Investigators say the victim, 43-year-old Florence Nyagah, was found dead inside her apartment at Faiths Apartments along Lumumba Drive in the Kasarani area.Authorities have identified the man who was reportedly with her on the night before her death as Daniel Macharia Mburu, who is a police officer.

Detectives in Kasarani launched investigations after Nyagah’s daughter raised the alarm when her calls went unanswered.

The daughter had spoken to her mother through a video call on February 28.

When she failed to reach her later that evening and the following day, she went to the house on March 1 and found her unresponsive.Police officers who responded to the scene found Nyagah lying on the floor of her second-floor apartment in a pool of blood. She had sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest and forehead.

A knife without a handle was recovered from beneath a kitchen table and is believed to be the murder weapon.

Nyagah was a hairdresser at Freddyz Salon located at Platinum Plaza in Nairobi.

Her body was moved to the mortuary for a postmortem examination as detectives continue with investigations.By March 2, the suspect was still at large, with officers actively pursuing leads.

Authorities say the motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
