The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has commenced investigations and intensified efforts to arrest four suspects linked to a serious criminal incident involving a woman, her daughter, and their domestic worker in Syokimau. The attack is said to have taken place during the morning hours inside the victims’ home, leaving the family traumatised and the community alarmed.
Police say the suspects allegedly forced their way into the residence while attempting to commit a robbery. Upon encountering the three women inside the house, the suspects reportedly carried out a violent assault. Investigators indicated that the mother was attacked first, after which the suspects turned on her daughter and the house help.
Apart from the assault, the suspects are believed to have stolen various household items before escaping from the scene. Emergency responders later rushed the victims to hospital for medical attention. Authorities have since confirmed that all three are in stable condition and are receiving the necessary care and support.
Detectives have launched a full-scale investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to help identify the suspects and trace their escape routes. Officers have also appealed to members of the public to share any information that may assist in the arrest of the attackers.
The incident comes amid growing concern over the frequent reports of sexual violence against women and girls across the country. Advocacy groups have urged law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively, while also calling for broader efforts to address insecurity and protect vulnerable members of society.
