Armed police officers alongside their colleagues from the military are currently beefing up security at JKIA and its environs even as Gen Z from various parts of Kenya including Mombasa, Kisumu, Nyeri & Karatina among others have commenced the demos dubbed ‘Total Shutdown’ calling for the exit of Pres William Ruto and his KK administration.
Back to JKIA where Kenyans especially those in Nairobi are expected to protest against the alleged sale of JKIA to Adani Commercials, Military cars alongside drones are hovering around to monitor the situation with no form of demos reported.
There were some concerns that security agencies won’t be able to contain demos owing to the fact that JKIA is a sensitive facility that is likely to paint Kenya in a bad way if any bullet or Teargas will be fired.
Also, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have been spotted at Nyayo Stadium, maintaining their vigilance ahead of the planned protests.
KDF has remained on high alert following their deployment by former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on June 28 to control escalating protests. Duale’s directive, announced through a gazette notice, mandated KDF presence in all 47 counties.
