The Ministry of Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has moved to Court seeking to strike off his name from a petition filed before the High Court in relation to the widespread abductions across the Country.
The CS on his part has condemned the abductions and any form of extra judicial actions taken either by government agencies or any other criminals involved in the abduction.
Through Lawyers Danstan Omari and Sam Nyamberi, CS Murkomen says that the two petitions filed by the LSK and Senator Okiya Omtatah who enjoyed him as a respondent are misplaced hence seek to strike his name from the said petitions.
The CS through his Advocates said that his job description as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior is defined and that his role to the police is only in policy and he can only provide a written policy direction to the IG of police in that matter.
Murkomen through his Lawyer Advocate Danstan Omari said that his policy does not involve the command structure which is a preserve of the Inspector General of Police hence he has no power to direct the National Police Service operations under the Law.
According to CS Murkomen, his name was dragged into the petition without any lawful or constitutional reasons or bearing to bring him on board.
āOut of the actions of the police, as a concerned Cabinet Secretary, the police have responded adequately through their police spokesperson,ā said CS Murkomen through his Lawyer, Danstan Omari.
The CS says that he is determined that whoever committed an offence in the abduction will be held accountable.
