CS Eliud Owalo was among those who attended the funeral service of Rita Tinina at the Holy Family Basilica.The Late Tinina, who passed on on March 17, was fondly eulogised by colleagues and friends as a diligent, courageous journalist who consistently upheld high journalistic standards in her work.According to CS Eliud Owalo, The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy joins the media fraternity in mourning the loss of such a talented member whose legacy will live on. Cs Eliud captioned, My heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

During the requiem mass for Tinina, NTV journalist Olive Burrows, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed their profound grief and shock at Tinina’s sudden passing.

“You have left us in darkness,” the family conveyed in their statement.

Tinina was described as quiet and perceptive, and she had a reputation for carefully listening to everyone she met, no matter what their background.

The tribute said, “We considered you as our own, but innumerable tributes have poured in, each sharing their personal interactions with Rita.”

From the petrol station attendant to the security guard, Tinina made a universal impact on people’s lives by exemplifying inclusivity.

Younger journalists praised Tinina for being a mentor to them, and many of them credited her advice for their success.

Coworkers Dan Mwangi and Joe Ageyo, Editorial Director of Royal Media Services/Citizen TV Kenya Linus Laikai, Linda Oguttu, and Ken Mijungu were among the notable people in attendance during the funeral mass.

Each paid tribute to Tinina, acknowledging her as a pioneer in the media industry whose absence will be keenly felt.
