Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua led the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) bandwagon to a church service in Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County.

The Deputy President was also accompanied by the second lady, pastor Dorcas Gachagua, as they attended the Consecration and Installation of Kirinyaga Region Bishop Samuel Karimi at PEFA Church, Mwea Cathedral.

However, it is at the event where questions were raised over the absence of area MP Mary Maingi, who was nowhere to be seen despite the presence of DP Rigathi Gachagua in her Mwea Constituency home turf.

Speaking at the event, Baragwi MCA David Mathege left the crowd in stitches as he dropped a message to DP Gachagua over the absence of Mwea MP at the event.

After, sharing the alleged concerns of the Mwea residents, MCA Mathege said that he was forced to be the one to share such concerns to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua because their area MP was nowhere to be seen.

Mathege said that it was not in order for the MP to skip such an important event attended by DP Gachagua, who is considered by many as the kingpin of the Mt Kenya region.

The MCA said that they are away that the MP voted Yes for the Finance Bill 2024, but added that he is sure that the residents will forgive their MP for that.

“Nashangaa MP wetu ako wapi na anafaa akuwe hapa na wewe leo. Mr. Deputy President ambia MP wetu arudi Mwea. Tunajua alivote Yes but hawa watu watamsamehea (I am surprised where our MP is. Mr. Deputy President please tell our MP to come back to Mwea. We know that she voted Yes but these people will forgive her),” MCA Mathege said sending the crowd wild.
