Eric Omondi got on the wrong side of Ezekiel Mutua’s law and last we checked, manz was arrested.
On Wednesday night Eric Omondi’s two contestants from Wife Material season two were arrested for causing a disturbance then were released the next day.
According to a press statement put out by the Kenya Film Classification Board, DCI arrested Eric Omondi for violating the provisions of the films and stage plays act cap 222 of the laws of Kenya by producing and distributing unauthorized films dubbed ‘Wife Material’.
“The said comedian will be arraigned in court for contravening the law. The Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 provides that:
(1) No person shall exhibit any film at an exhibition to which the public are admitted or distribute such film unless he is registered as an exhibitor or distributor by the Board and issued with a certificate. (2) No film or class of film shall be distributed, exhibited, or broadcast, either publicly or privately, unless the Board has examined it and issued a certificate of approval in respect thereof. (3) Any person who exhibits any film in contravention of the provisions of subsection (1) or subsection (2) shall be guilty of an offense.
The Board will take all possible legal means to curb production and exhibition of unauthorized films on any platform meant for public exhibition
Protection of children from exposure to harmful content remains our core mandate and any artist producing any content for public consumption must ensure that they comply with the provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.” Read the statement by KFCB
Chipukeezy, a a creative and also government employee is not happy with the way things are going when it comes to his ‘brother’ Eric Omondi.

This is not the first time the self-proclaimed president of comedy has been on the wrong side of Ezekiel Mutua. They had an online war a few weeks ago but I guess this time things were bad and the law was not on Eric’s side. We will keep you updated on his release and the terms that will come with it. Will the show, ‘Wife Material’ be banned or will it chill on the content they are producing?
