As reported by news sources, a tragic accident happened on December 30 at 8 a.m. along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway. Before the accident, the conductor managed to flee unhurt after he noticed the incoming trailer, which allegedly had lost brakes, coming in at high speed.

The trailer hit head-on with the 14-seater Matatu, resulting in the deaths of eight people on the spot.

Following the report made by a high witness, he alleged that the driver of the trailer bribed the traffic officers with fifty shillings each, and he was permitted to take off with his journey despite driving at a higher speed.

“Our traffic officers are very wrong because if they hadn’t taken the fifty-shilling bribe from the driver of the trailer, no life would have been claimed, but because of their greed for getting free money, here are the results,” an eyewitness said.

However to avoid such tragic accidents on the road it’s advisable for everyone to take the role of speaking up to the driver so to save lives.
