For the past two months, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Wamunyoro home in Nyeri has gotten the attention of Kenyans after the former DP Retreated back home and held a series of meetings in the sleepy village.
The name Wamunyoro became famous as Gachagua took to his Facebook page on a daily basis updating Kenyans on the details of high-profile leaders he had been hosting.

From meeting Mt Kenya leaders to leaders outside the mountain coming from Kisii, Nakuru and even Kajiado, Gachagua kept himself busy at his Nyeri home, earning himself a nickname ‘Wamunyoro’ from a section of Ruto allies including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who used the name to mock Gachagua.
However, for the past four days, silence has returned to Gachagua’s Wamunyoro home, with little or no major activity happening.
Ever since he held a live breakfast session with Western Kenya vernacular radio stations at his Karen home in Nairobi, Gachagua has gone silent or five days, leaving Kenyans on what he could be planning.
Even his Facebook page which had been so busy on a daily basis for one month, has suddenly gone silent. This comes even as President William Ruto, who is on his fourth-day visit to North Eastern region, has been busy castigating Gachagua and his allies ahead of 2027.
On Thursday, Gachagua updated his Facebook bio from being a DP to being a Husband, father and Kenyan. This is the second time Gachagua is gone silent after he did the same in 2024, shortly before his impeachment woes emerged.
The DP would later reveal that he was in Mt Kenya praying for his nation and reflecting on his political future.
He is expected to announce his political party at the end of February after reportedly ‘listening’ to the ground and making a decision.
